Sean Downey was born in South Texas in 1975 and was active with photo Journalism in High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1992 and after completing his training was stationed in Okinawa Japan, then California, where he met his wife Mary and now resides after his honorable discharge in 1997. He is an active racer and participant in the yachting community of Long Beach, CA as a crew member aboard the Express 37 "Expresso" owned by Bob and Debbie Moore and a member of Shoreline Yacht Club of Long Beach.

Joining the YachtRacing.com staff has given him the opportunity to be an active participant in the sport he loves so much, as well as putting him back in touch with his journalistic roots. Sean also is well versed in desktop publishing, graphic and web design.

He doesn't get out on the water as much as he would like too lately, but he does not mind as the reason is Tristan, his son born March 20, 2002.
