Eddington Crowned Winner Of Mumm 30 Championship

Last night it was reported that South Australian Chris Tillet and crew (On The Edge) had won the Workforce Marine Mumm Championships today at Sail Melbourne – but that is not the case.

Bruce Eddington (Kato, VIC) has been crowned the winner after Sandringham Yacht Club put in a place a one drop after some confusion as to whether the series included a race drop or not.

With a race drop now in place after the eight race series was completed yesterday on Port Phillip Bay, Eddington and crew have won the title, continuing the Victorian stranglehold on the various events at Sail Melbourne this week past week.

Eddington’s disqualification in Race 4 look set to cost him the title, but with that now used as his drop, added to winning two of the final three races sailed yesterday, he wins by just one point from Tillet.

Chris Way (Breakout, NSW) still remains third, with Jeff Paul (Raymarine, QLD) scored fourth.

Final Provisional results:

1 Kato – B. Eddington (VIC) 10

2 On The Edge – C. Tillet (SA) 11

3 Breakout – C. Way (NSW) 20

4 Raymarine – J. Paul (QLD) 27
