Bancrofts
Win Pacer Nationals
McCrae
Yacht Club sailor Guy Bancroft with his 12 year-old
daughter Claire crewing on McBone, continues his
winning ways, this time finishing first in the
Pacer Nationals conducted by McCrae YC as part
of Sail Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay.
Bancroft,
a champion in the B14 class, won all but the last
two races in which he scored third and second
places respectively to win the nine race one-drop
series from fellow McCrae members, father and
son Ian and Dave (13 years) Cunningham sailing
Bubblejet.
Third
place in the 29-boat series went to another father
and son, Allan and James O’Brien sailing
Jaas, also from Victoria.
Bancroft,
known to most as ‘Bangers’, commented
this afternoon, ‘the Championship was very
much a family affair and we all enjoyed it –
everything went according to plan. We had mixed
conditions throughout the regatta – around
20 knots yesterday, but today, it would be kind
to say we got as much as 7 knots.’
