Live Coverage Zwitserleven Round Texel

Den Burg, May 31st 2004 – On Saturday June 5th, online television images and interim scores enable live coverage of the 27th Zwitserleven Round Texel. Nine camera-men will capture the course of the race. They will send the shootings to the shore, where they will be processed for live broadcasting on internet as well as on a big TNG-screen on the Texel beach.

SportLive.nl is responsible for the processing and broadcasting on www.roundtexel.com . Round Texel Co-ordinator Edwin Lodder: “It is unique that such an event can be followed in this way. Family, friends and the entire world will watch live television images. Due to new technologies, the sailing sport comes closer to the people ashore. As organization we welcome those developments, therefore we like to co-operate in experiments like these.” Official Timekeeper TNG takes care of the presentation of interim scores and provisional results at the light house, VC-mark and Oudeschild, which will be presented on the big TNG-screen on the beach. In addition, by using this new technology, the processing of results is almost completely automatic. Due to the renewed Tracing and Tracking system of Armada Security Products, the positions of 75 catamarans will be displayed live on Sport-Track.com.

On Wednesday June 2nd, the Zwitserleven Round Texel week will start with the three day Texel Dutch Open, the official Open Dutch Championship of Catamaran Sailing. The organization expects hundred participating teams. On June 5th, about 575 catamarans will line up for the 27th Zwitserleven Round Texel, with a strong competitive international fleet.

Besides Zwitersleven the event will be sponsored by Repeat Sales Promotions B.V., TNG Swiss watches, Komatsu, Holkema Group, Tros, Mondriaan Onderwijsgroep, SportLive.nl, Nissan, Teso and VVV Texel.
