X-Prozac
(ITA) Leads Talisman (USA) And Meridiana-Italtel
(ITA) Overall At Rolex IMS Worlds
Today's 3pm (local time) start of Race 5 for the
Rolex IMS World Championship fleet, gave the sea
breeze enough time to fill in and hold fairly
steady throughout the afternoon.

The
Italian "big boat" X-Prozac (Gabriele
Benussi, helmsman) led the sole US entry Talisman
(Terry Hutchinson, helmsman) around the course
finishing first, putting the two boats 1-2 overall
in the regatta after five races. The westerly
breeze was about 7-9 knots at the start, dropping
slightly for boats in the middle of the fleet.
Furio Benussi, tactician on X-Prozac, attributed
the win to a "fast helmsman", but it
was clear that the boat was optimized and going
extremely well in the light breeze. Despite the
short shakedown for Talisman since its' launching,
navigator Peter Isler felt they were going pretty
well. Said Isler, "it's surprising in the
light breeze that boat for boat, the big boats
are competitive with the little boats".
Fram
XV (NOR, Kristoffer Spone, helmsman) kept pace
with the frontrunners taking 2nd in today's race,
followed by a Corinthian division entry, Memo
Mulini (URU, Santiago Mesa, helmsman) in 3rd.
Tomorrow
is the last race of the regatta scheduled for
an 12noon start (local time). Following racing
will be the Final Prizegiving quayside at Marina
Grande.
The

and proven past performers.
