Cup - Mari Cha IV Due In At Kaneohe Bay, 6pm:
Pyewacket Record Is History
Kaneohe, HI -- The 6pm, predicted
arrival of Mari Cha IV to the West Marine Pacific
Cup finish line at Kaneohe Bay will leave Pyewacket's
1998, 6 day, 14 hour, 22 minute record to the
history books. Mari Cha IV will join Pyewacket,
Windward Passage, Merlin, Blackfin, Kathmanu and
others in the recordbook of transocean legends
On
day #10 of the West Marine Pacific Cup, Bob Miller's
goal of record breaking monohull adventures has
added the WestCoast-Hawai'i Pacific Ocean record
to his six-day feat crossing the Atlantic.
Elsewhere in Pacific Cup action, the leaders on
corrected time are also closing in on Hawai'i,
well past the halfway mark of the race. Winnetou,
Morpheus and Natazak still hold the overall lead
as well as their Division E.
The doublehanded yachts have settled down to a
contest between Eyrie, Salty Hotel and PoleCat.
Their fleet is also halfway home.
Division A leaders First Light, Ghost and Cayenne
are still bunched together with nearly the same
distance to Kaneohe.
California Girl, Ikaika and Tutto Bene continue
to be in the hunt for Division B honors.
Division C is Led by Inspired Environments, followed
by Punahele and Lightwave.
Surprise, Sensation and Andiamo are thinking pineapples
and papaya for the weekend as their Division D
will be crossing the finish line in a few days.
In addition to today's arrival of Mari Cha IV,
Division F, Braveheart, Magnitude80, and Icon
will soon be in Kaneohe Bay. Braveheart is the
leader on corrected time.
