WEST NOTICE OF RACE AVAILABLE
KEY
WEST, Fla.---The Notice of Race and Entry Application
for Terra Nova Trading Key West 2004 are now available
for America's premiere annual regatta scheduled
Jan. 19-23.
Invited
classes include Corsair 28R, Farr 40, IMS, J/105,
J/109, J/29, J/80, Melges 24, MORC, Mumm 30, PHRF,
Swan 45, Open Swan and T-10. Entry packages will
arrive in mailboxes in August. All entry documents,
plann786u5rhujing information and past results
are posted on the event web site: www.Premiere-Racing.com.
In
recent years the event has matured into the international
winter destination for the world's racing sailors,
including an unequaled gathering of grand prix
racing talent. The past three fleets averaged
more than 300 boats with 50 of those entries hailing
from 21 different countries, boosting the prestige
for the International Team Competition---and the
reputation of the Italians who have won it four
of the last five years.
But
the world-class crowd doesn't overshadow the weekend
sailors who haul their boats from every corner
of the country. Last January Richard Bergmann's
California crew, sailing the J/105 Zuni Bear,
won the Terra Nova Trading Trophy as Boat of the
Week and the Mount Gay Rum Boat of the Day award
for winning Race 5 in midweek.
In
2004 the competition will expand even more when
the Swan 45 class makes its Key West debut. The
renowned yacht manufacturer, based in Pietersaari,
Finland, is producing a racer-cruiser line with
a standard carbon fiber rig. Nine are already
committed to compete for the new Nautor Trophy
that will go to the top performing Swan.
