Since our last e-mail;
On the technology front the computer again crashed
and again was ovenized, this time at a little
higher temperature for an hour. It now is working
perfectly.
On the weather front, last night was very nice
with a bright moon, steady winds and decent boat
speed. This all ended just after midnight when
the wind dropped below 10 and the shifty wind
made the sailing more difficult. Low speed of
the day is 4 knots (ugh) The choices were difficult
as starboard tack took us closer to Hawaii, but
also closer to the Pacific High which we want
to avoid due to its lighter winds. Port tack was
an ugly direction, but came with a higher probability
of better breeze to the south. The decision was
made to go to port which we stayed on until 30
minutes ago when we gybed back to starboard. There
is too much distance to go to let the location
of the finish influence our short term decisions.
That being said, tomorrow mornings roll call will
be interesting. On the good side of things, we
are drying out and putting the foul weather gear
away and showers were the order of the day.
Join us in hoping for better breeze this evening.
Bye for now.
