"Amer
Sport Too" Helmed By Lorenzo Bodini In The
Finals At The Super Open Cup
Trieste,
8 October 2003
Wonderful
surprise, starting with today’s races, on
board of “Amer Sports Too” during
the Super Open Cup, event which is part of the
Barcolana Race Week in the Gulf of Trieste, Italy.
On
board a new member, Andrea Trani, recent world
champion of the 470 class, is now officially a
team member of the “Amer Sport Too”
team which is helmed by the Olympic sailor Lorenzo
Bodini. Along with the rest of the team, Andrea
Trani will offer both technical help and personal
experience to his new acquired family.
Today’s
race was decisive for the team. Yesterday, they
had to make technical adjustments and were not
able to race, so the team started behind by one
day. No problem for the strong team, with a fourth,
fifth and second place today, “Amer Sport
Too” made it to the finals. The finals will
be raced on a Flying Star, a 7 mt. boat and will
consent only three of the team members to participate,
thus reducing the team considerably. Among these
three are Lorenzo and Marco Bodini, both Olympic
sailors and Andrea Trani.
“Today
we wanted to test out the progress we had done
on our boat-comments Lorenzo Bodini- because we
want to be sure that Sunday morning we are ready
to face this challenge. On board on Sunday we
have managed to add the famous female skipper,
Miranda Merron to our team, having already sailed
on this boat during the last Volvo Ocean Race.”
