LogicaCMG takes line honours in Round Britain Challenge

Arrivals spread throughout the night and tomorrow morning

1 May 2003 01:18 GMT At exactly 24 minutes past midnight tonight, LogicaCMG crossed the Royal Yacht Squadron line to take line and overall honours in the inaugural Round Britain Challenge.

The yacht skippered by Duggie Gillespie and supported by Mate Joanna Summers are due to arrive in Ocean Village within the next half an hour.

The crowds have built progressively during the evening and are currently nursing cups of steaming coffee and cold beer. There will be many more as the night/morning progresses and the yachts return home.

Spirit of Southampton is still out in the Solent sailing towards the finish line but by now fighting an adverse tide. About 20 miles her behind is the Daily Telegraph and BG Group another 10 miles behind her.

Closely bunched together is then Basilica, Spirit of Hong Kong and Vail Williams with Team Spirit still fighting hard at the back the fleet about 72 miles from the finish and expected to cross the line mid-morning tomorrow.
