NATION’S
CUP: FOURTH
DAY OF RACING CHARACTERIZED BY POOR WEATHER CONDTIONS

The
fourth day of sailing, at the fourth edition of
the Nation’s cup was characterized by poor
weather conditions. It was possible only to race
on match which began at 13:10 this afternoon.
The two teams who sailed were Victory Challenge
with the many time Olympic winner Magnus Holmberg
and GBR Challenge with Andy Beadsworth.
After
a great start from the English team, the Swedish
team was able to surpass them at the first mark.
After the first leg, the advantage accumulated
to 28 seconds. Despite the continuous efforts
from GBR Challenge, Holmberg was able to cross
the finish line first, with a 24 second lead.
With this result, the British team has definitely
been defeated and does not go on to the semi-finals,
predicted to start tomorrow.

The first Round Robin will end when the last two
matches are raced, which is imperative to decide
who goes on to the semi-finals along with Team
Alinghi and OneWorld. The remaining matches are
among Oracle with Chieffi at the helm and OneWorld
driven by Spithill and the second match sees Chieffi
again against the Swedish Team, Victory Challenge.
Tommorrow’s
program will start earlier than predicted, at
8 o’clock in the morning is the briefing
and at 9 o’clock is the first race. This
program has been changed so that the semi-finals
can begin on the same day. On Saturday, last day
of racing, the finals to determine the winner
of the fourth edition.
For
this special occasion, Chris Law is coaching Team
Mascalzone Latino. The Italian Rascals have managed
to win two races, of which one against Team Alinghi.
Results: Alinghi, 4 points– OneWorld, 3
points– Mascalzone Latino, Victory, 2
points– Oracle, GBR Challenge, 1 point.
