NATIONS CUP: One
World Beats Victory Challenge
Trieste,
16th of June 2003. It was One World to win the
race against Victory Challenge in the first day
of the Nation’s Cup-La Sfida of Trieste.
With an advantage of 7 seconds, the Australian
James Spithill had the better of the Swede Magnus
Holmberg of Victory Challenge. It was the most
fought out and spectacular race as the weather
conditions improved greatly in the late afternoon.
The two teams fought continuously for the first
place. In the last leg the Swedes were able to
gain the advantage but the Americans of One World
were able to close the lead and only a few meters
in front of the finish line they took the advantage
thus winning the race. The race took place in
a nice east- north east wind which took place
at 18:40.
