Grands
Records - Geronimo Maintains The Gap In Mediocre
Conditions
Two
days in one; Geronimo picked up the wind at the
end of yesterday evening and covered over 260
nautical miles in the 14 hours from 8 p.m. yesterday
to 10 a.m. today at an average of 18.57 knots.
Unfortunately,
the day began as catastrophically as forecast,
with so little wind that the Cap Gemini and Schneider
Electric trimaran could manage an average of only
9 knots to cover 90 miles in 10 hours. Geronimo
therefore had a pretty average day in which she
covered 349.48 miles, thus maintaining the gap
to her virtual opponent, Playstation. 176 miles
now separate the boats at the finish line, compared
with 175 yesterday.
