Set For 17th Annual Yacht Clubs Of Long Beach Charity
Regatta
LONG BEACH, CA (September 12, 2003) - On Saturday,
September 27, 2003, the seventeenth running of the
event with all proceeds benefiting The Children's
Clinic will take place on the waters off of Long
Beach, CA. The regatta offers six venues facilitating
fleets from PHRF to Sabots and even a predicted
log race for power boaters. The event is always
a favorite of southern California sailors as it
offers the challenging conditions native to Long
Beach combined with contributing to the neighboring
community.
The
event is scheduled to kick off at 11:50am. Advanced
registration is requested with tax deductible entry
fees of $5 for bay class juniors $15 bay class seniors
and beach cats, $25 ocean class keelboats, ORCA,
cruising class, and PHRF, and $25 for the predicted
log race. Checks should be made payable to The Children's
Clinic. Trophies will be presented during a burger
bash immediately after the close of racing to be
held at Alamitos Bay Yacht Club.
The Children's Clinic of Long Beach is a non-profit
(502)(c)(3), license, community clinic whose mission
is dedicated to providing quality health care, health
education, and health promotion in a culturally
sensitive and linguistically appropriate manner
to medically underserved children and their families
in the cities of the greater Long Beach area. The
Children's Clinic was established in 1939 by a group
of physicians who realized the importance of access
to health care for all children, particularly those
who are low-income and therefore at greater risk
for health problems. In it's 64 year history, The
Children's Clinic has grown from offering weekly
well-child care to a daily, full-service health
care facility.
