The race has entered the 23rd day and it looks
as though many of the boats will be calculating
how best to make the rations last the remaining
time before they reach Rio De Janeiro ...!
Nicator has been tied up alongside for nearly
two days now and Adrenalina Pura is awaited by
the locals, being Brazilian. She must have spent
a very frustrating 24 hours – have reported
by radio at 21.00 last evening that she was about
90 miles away – near Cabo Frio – and
this morning she still has 69 miles to go.
Dalys
Insurance was just unravelling a spinnaker wrap
when the boat was phoned for the latest positions,
caused by only 10 knots SE of breeze with a nasty
swell. Gina told me that every third or four one
knocks their quarter and is very uncomfortable.
Helsall
II wishes everybody a very happy Australia Day!
Suidoos
2 is obviously working hard to retain a podium
finish and has taken over third place in the IRC
fleet again, behind Baleka and Investec. The battle
is hotting up!
Looking
over the peacefull and very beautiful Guanabara
Bay, with the Sugar Loaf mirrored in the sea,
it is easy to forget that over 200 sailors are
trying their utmost to get to Rio de Janeiro as
quickly as possible..!
