VISA BOSPHORUS CUP 2003

From the 26th to the 29th of June the beautiful city of Istanbul, Turkey will host the IRC regatta called the Bosphorus Cup. The yachts will sail between two continents (Europe and Asia) tacking up and down into the small bays of the world famous Bosphorus, a narrow, navigable strait between Europe and Asia connecting the Black Sea to the Marmara Sea. 60 boats will be showing off in these waters mirroring the city, among which are a group of IMX 45’s, IMX 40’s and Beneteau 40.7’s.

The former palaces of the Ottoman Empire, 6 star hotels on the water and the fishermen of the Black Sea will have a chance to see the 60 boat fleet in a fierce competition.

On Sunday June 29th, same fleet will be sailing around "Princes Islands" only 6 nautical miles away from Downtown Istanbul. Team Provezza and Orient Express, Orhan Gorbon, Enver
Adakan, Haluk Babacan, Þükrü Sanus, Arif Gürdenli will be some of the top
Turkish skippers to enter the event.

In addition, Heart of America and from the Volvo Ocean Race Odessa will be showing off on the Bosphorus. For this three day period, the boats will gather at the "Ataköy Marina".
The race is managed by "ORG Sports Marketing" and organized jointly by "Turkish Offshore Racing Club" and "Ataköy Marina Yacht Club." Garanti Bank , Turkish financial institution, Shop & miles payment systems and VISA International will be sponsoring the event for the second
consecutive year.
