The
Ocean Racer Miranda Merron Has Arrived in Trieste,
On Board Of Amer Sport Too
Lorenzo Bodini Barely At The
Fincantieri Cup
Trieste,
Saturday 11th October 2003
Only
two points from third place, a position which
unfortunately Lorenzo Bodini just barely missed
in the Fincantieri Cup at the Barcolana Sail week
in Trieste, Italy. Lorenzo, an Olympic sailor
was helped out by his twin brother, also an Olympic
athlete, Marco Bodini.
Due
to lack of wind in the first race this morning,
although Bodini was in the leading group in second
place, the race was cancelled and unfortunately
had to restart again. In the second race held
today, Bodini finished in fourth place, thus concluding
fourth overall in the three day event “Fincantieri
Cup”. First place was awarded to another
citizen of Trieste, Furio Benussi, second place
for the Slovenian Darki Haidinjak, and third place
for Andrea Casale from Genova.
In
the mean time, a world class female skipper has
arrived in Trieste, and will be on board of “Amer
Sport Too”, the same boat which she raced
on during the past edition of the Volvo Ocean
Race with the female team. She will race beside
Lorenzo Bodini in the hope that they will triumph
in the 35th edition of the Barcolana Race.
“I
am very happy to return to Trieste”, comments
Merron, “a city which has adopted me since
I lived here three years ago. I can’t wait
to get back on board of this boat, a boat which
in the past had filled me with different emotions.
I am also very happy to race beside Bodini, and
the rest of the team. I hope that we will race
well and hopefully finish among the top boats.”
