Alpe Adria Sailing Tour Off to a Great Start

At the present moment, the last of the Solaris 36 One Design boats, latest jewel of the Serigi shipyard from Aquileia (Udine) Italy, are being finished.

The teams who have entered the “Alpe Adria Sailing Tour” in the meantime, have risen to eight.

Just returned from Auckland, where he was participating at the last America’s Cup, Peter Holmberg at the helm of Team “BMW” has confirmed his participation. Alongside Peter, is another well known world class sailor, the Italian Stefano Rizzi (The Race and The Volvo Ocean Race) who will be at the helm of Team “Dentesano”. Stefano Rizzi is also the president of the newborn Solaris 36 class and testimonial of Solaris Yachts.

The double participation and sponsorisation of the Dentesano Hams, of Percoto (Udine) Italy. They are both sponsoring the event as well sponsoring the Italian team with Rizzi at the wheel.

The Project Manager of the event, Thomas Gozdecki, is satisfied at the progress of this event and of the sponsors who have entered the race, of these are Alcatel Mobile Phones, Pirelli tires, Vip-Net Phones, Vodicanka Hotels and of course, Promosail, organizer of the “Barcolana Race” . Other major sponsors are at the present moment negotiating for their possible sponsorship with this unique event.

The participation of this race is catching the eye of both national and international sailing also because of the use of this new class of boats, which we have had the pleasure of previewing through the monthly sailing magazines in the past few months.

This event will begin on the first of May starting from Venice, and will make its way Trieste followed by Koper, Piran, Porec, Pola, Zara, Sibenik, Makarska, Spalato and end in Dubrovnik after about 500 miles having raced through majestic landscapes.

Once the boats have docked, the sailors will have the possibility to relax and have a taste of the culture and of the typical foods thanks to the wonderful organization of the shore team. Not to forget is the very fun race organized by the infamous “Playboy” magazine which will close this event with the beautiful “Playmates”.
