Grands
Records - En route To The Horn
30
March 21:45
At
17:13 GMT on Tuesday 30 March, Geronimo was following
a true heading of 124°, taking her east-southeast
on a direct route to Cape Horn.
Reporting
a position of 49°02S, 159°48 W at this
time, the Cap Gemini and Schneider Electric trimaran
was still experiencing southerly winds, although
these have dropped in strength over the last 24
hours to around 20 knots. Geronimo was then making
a spot actual speed of 22.6 knots.
The
Pacific has temporarily forgotten its recent fury
and may possibly be content to leave Olivier de
Kersauson and his crew a period of respite vital
to achieving their ambition.
