Grands
Records - More wind needed
08 March 21:30
In
his radio bulletin of this afternoon, Olivier
de Kersauson warned us of calmer conditions just
ahead of Geronimo and these seem now to have appeared
with the trimaran’s spot surface speed falling
to 17.5 knots at 19:14 GMT this evening, compared
with 24 knots a few hours previously.
A
position transmitted at that time located the
Cap Gemini and Schneider Electric trimaran at
26°14S, 33°15W.
She
continues to head due South, braving the risk
of going too far south relative to her ideal route
due to the exceptional nature of the high pressure
system normally centred over St. Helena, but now
located off Namibia.
