America's
Cup - Alinghi Goes Weekly With Eurosport
Eurosport
and Alinghi signed a groundbreaking deal today
to bring Alinghi to a wider audience. The Defender
of the 32nd America’s Cup is to co-produce
an “Inside Alinghi” weekly episode
that Eurosport will broadcast every Wednesday
evening and repeat the following day and weekend,
starting on the 11 May 2005 and playing up until
the last race of the America’s Cup Match
in June 2007.
Alinghi,
true to its pioneering pedigree has set a further
precedent in having a full-time in-house team
cameraman. He follows the crew in their daily
training, sailing and racing, making the Eurosport
footage the genuine Alinghi article. The passion
for what the Alinghi team members do on a daily
basis is palatable and their determination to
win the Cup again underpins every emotion.
One
week from today, 102 million households in 54
countries throughout Europe, Western Russia, North
Africa and Israel can get a weekly glimpse of
the personalities behind the Swiss power-pack.
The program will show profile interviews, special
features, behind the scenes ‘never seen
before’ footage and day-to-day team member
tracking. You can feel for yourself what it takes
to be on the winning team, go onboard and see
first-hand the manoeuvres that make these the
best sailors in the world and that is not all
– there is a lot more to Alinghi than meets
the eye, get up close and personal with the sailmakers,
design team, shore crew and everyone else that
contributes to the end goal: winning the 32nd
America’s Cup.
These
emissions will work up to a climax in 2007 –
the year of the final fight for the America’s
Cup – when Eurosport will up their broadcasting
to add special monthly Alinghi programs.
Patrick
Magyar, Co-General Manager of Alinghi explains
how happy and proud he is of the agreement with
Eurosport: “The interest Eurosport has shown
in our Team is proof of the increased status of
the America’s Cup and Alinghi as its Defender.
