- Offshore Sailing Coach Position At Navy
Director,
Varsity Offshore Sailing The United States Naval
Academy invites applications and nominations for
the Varsity Offshore Sailing Team Director position.
The U.S. Naval Academy has a comprehensive big
boat program whose goals and objectives range
from basic sail training through intercollegiate
big boat competition to competing in Chesapeake
Bay Yacht Racing Association-sponsored events
in order to prepare for ocean racing during the
Naval Academy's Summer Cruise Program. In addition
to sail training and coaching, the Director is
also responsible for leading and managing subordinates,
financial management, supervising big boat preventive
and corrective maintenance, leading daily training
and practice sessions, coaching while participating
in competitions on the bay, along the eastern
seaboard, and during ocean races. The incumbent
is also responsible to ensure compliance with
policies and procedures regarding on-the-water
training and professional development during the
Summer Cruise Program. Duties also include ensuring
midshipmen comply with Naval Academy rules and
regulations. Applicants should be prepared to
proactively recruit and retain student-athletes
who meet the Naval Academy's stringent academic
standards and military performance requirements.
Previous successful sail training and coaching
experience is required. Bachelor's Degree required.
Master's Degree preferred. Applications will be
