Top-flight racing programming from a production
team with a top-flight racing track record
Round
the world sailor Ellen MacArthur and Team New
Zealand America's Cup skipper Dean Barker will
be the regular reporters in Seamaster Sailing,
a new monthly half-hour grand prix sailing television
series that was launched by Europe-based APP Broadcast
at the Schroders London Boat Show today, January
15th 2004. Seamaster Sailing will be broadcast
in 178 countries worldwide, with over 530 million
viewers able to watch the programming.
Seamaster
Sailing will be produced by a team of the world's
leading sailing producers and editors at APP Broadcast.
The production team has a track record that includes
the America's Cup, Whitbread/Volvo and Olympics
as well as other sporting credits that include
the ATP tennis tour, Premiership football and
international cricket. "Our goal with Seamaster
Sailing is to create a sailing series featuring
the very best in the sport, presented by the very
best in the sport and produced by a team that
has sailed around the world, produced programming
at the America's Cup, commentated at the Olympics,
built journalistic CVs and operated at the cutting
edge of grand prix sailing," said Joint Series
Producer Andrew Preece of APP Broadcast.
Each
month Seamaster Sailing will provide sailing news
from the hotspots of the grand prix sailing world
plus in-depth features that will take viewers
into the characters that have achieved sporting
fame from their achievements in sailing. Seamaster
Sailing will be on the inside at events that are
ranked amongst the toughest in any sport; Seamaster
Sailing™ will be first onboard the extraordinary
sailing machines that are breaking world speed
records. Seamaster Sailing will be close to the
heart of the action with the goal to inform even
the most closely informed. "If in a year's
time sailors are telling us Seamaster Sailing
is a series that each month they make sure they
see, and if a growing audience of non-sailors
are being captivated by the stories that the sport
of sailing can deliver, then we will have achieved
what we set out to do," said Joint Series
Producer Richard Simmonds of APP Broadcast. "We
have been planning this for three years and have
an exceptional team - including Ellen and Dean
- around us. But it will be the audiences that
will let us know if we are delivering. Right now
we are just saying watch Seamaster Sailing,"
said Simmonds.
