Weather
Strategies for Key West 2005
Your
racing strategy shouldn’t start on the day
before the race. It should start as soon as you
can determine probable weather patterns. Long
range planning should start two to three weeks
prior to race day. With so much weather data now
available to the general public, you don’t
need a professional navigator to make strategic
routing decisions based on weather. With a little
background, you can create your own strategic
weather advantage.
Wx
LIVE! is a pre-race workshop that looks at the
emerging patterns the weekend before the race.
It will serve as a refresher on how to read weather
maps, identify Low and High pressure systems,
squall lines and associated fronts, and make use
of surface analysis maps, upper atmosphere maps,
satellite images, etc. And, it will introduce
new weather information sources that have just
been made available to the public.
The
award-winning Wx LIVE! is designed to get your
head in the game early. Time is at a premium once
the starting flag goes up. The longer it takes
you to acquire and interpret a weather element
the longer it takes to make an informed tactical
decision.
Best
of all, you don’t need to spend an entire
day away from prepping your boat. You can attend
this one-of-a-kind seminar from the comfort of
your own computer. Join us on Saturday, January
8, 2005. All you need is a computer with an Internet
connection and speakers or a headphone. A microphone
is also recommended, but not required. And the
session will be archived so that you can access
and discuss the upcoming conditions with your
own team – at your own convenience!
