Annual
Yacht Clubs Of Long Beach Charity Regatta - A
Great Year For A Great Cause
LONG
BEACH, CA - September 27, 2004 -- The 18th running
of one of Long Beach, California's favorite regattas
was held Sunday, September 26th, in the inner
harbor. Over 50 boats ranging from 50 foot racing
yachts to sabots enjoyed the Long Beach sailing
conditions.

The
first race kicked-off with 5-7 knots of breeze
which saw the fleet slowly making their way around
the course. However, towards the end of the race,
the wind had built to 10-12 knots and a second
race was run.
Most
of the action of the day was held inside the marina
where the junior sabots spun around in tight circles
along a small course. There were quite a few close
calls and bumps but true to the sport, not a shout
was uttered in protest. In fact, one young racer
broke out in a round of "Take me out to the
ball game.".
The
overall winners of the day were the crew of "Who's
Yo Daddy" a Nelson Merrick 45 skippered by
Davin Palitz. The crew with the most family aboard
was "Whiplash" a Schock 35 owned by
Ray Godwin. There were trophies for the standard
finishers, as well as an all-female crew and a
newly created "crew challenge" perpetual
for the crew that raised the most money.

The
Children's Clinic, Serving Children and Their
Families (TCC), founded in 1939 by a group of
local physicians and community leaders, is an
independent non-profit licensed community clinic
dedicated to providing comprehensive health care

communities.
WHO

TCC provides care for the most underserved in
the community. To be eligible for services,

The Children's Clinic provides medical care
and counseling for well-child visits; acute
and chronic care; community outreach and education;
immunizations; laboratory testing; prescribed
medications; linkage to community resources;
